General FAQs - About the Business

What Locations Do You Service?

We service:

  • Airdrie, Alberta

What are your Hours of Business?

Phone Calls– Generally we are open for phone calls as follows:

  • Mon-Fri – 7am to 8pm
  • Saturday – 7am to 4pm
  • Sunday – Closed
  • Holidays – Closed

Services – Times can vary but we tend to work

  • Mon-Sat – Start 9am. Last Job tends to start around 4pm
  • Sunday – Usually Closed, except by Special Appointment.
  • Holidays – Closed.

How long have you been in Business?

We started trading as Dang Good Carpet and Furnace Cleaning on the 1st April 2016. However our experience goes back many years. Mark has been in the industry over 35 years.

Dang Good Carpet and Furnace Cleaning operates under the corporation: MKN Industries Inc.

Are you Insured?

Yes we are fully insured and have the appropriate level of liability insurance. A copy of our insurance cover can be provided at the time of booking if requested.

Do you have cover with WCB (Workers Compensation Board)?

Yes we have cover through the WCB (Workers Compensation Board, Alberta). A Clearance Letter can be obtained at the time of booking if requested.

Do you work in All Weathers?

Mostly Yes: Rain, Shine, Snow, Blizzards!

Even temperatures lower than -25 c. However at those temperatures, carpet cleaning is a two-man crew so that one can team member can make sure the lines do not freeze and our equipment ruined.

What is your Minimum Charge?

Our minimum call out charge is $99.99 plus GST.

How do I obtain a Quote?

Or if you want to complete our Online Form we will contact you.

Once you have spoken with Mark and agreed upon a price, if requested we will send an email.

How do I Book?

All bookings are made by phone. Please call 403-984-3680

How far in advance can I book?

We don't mind. We have had customers book 6 months ahead.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

We would prefer at least 48 hours notice. Longer if possible. When you leave it too late we have an empty spot that is difficult to fill. We simply ask that you be considerate.

How do I Pay? When do I Pay?

All Cleaning Jobs are C.O.D. (Cash On Delivery), or to be more precise Payment on Delivery. This enables us to keep the cleaning costs down.

We accept All Credit Cards, Debit Cards and Cash ($CAD).

Sorry we do not accept Cheques.

Please also be advised that we do not carry a cash float with us so if you wish to pay by cash you would need to have the correct amount in change.

We accept E-Transfers provided they are received before we start your cleaning.

If you are booking on behalf of someone else then there are two options available to you:

  1. The Contact Person on site must pay and you can arrange to reimburse them. Or…
  2. You can provide us with Credit Card Information ahead of the job.

Unfortunately if the above conditions are not met then no work will be carried out.

Can I request Odor Free?

Absolutely. Please request Odor Free it at the time of Booking and again at the time of the Appointment.

Are your Products Environmentally Friendly?

Yes our products are natural and green. healthy for Pets and Children and Adults of course.

Do you send Reminders?

Yes we do. The Reminder will be on the day before. Ordinarily, Mark will send a text message. Unless you don't have a cell phone, in which case we will give you a call.

Do you do emergency, last minute appointments?

Sometimes… if we get a cancellation and there may be an odd spot open. It is certainly worth a phone call.

General FAQs - On the Job

Do you need Parking?

Yes we do. And mostly 2 spaces are preferable. Also we need to be able to park as close to the property as possible.

With apartment blocks where we have to use a Portable Unit, we will need guaranteed parking as close to your unit as possible. This is because the technician need to carry equipment in and out of the apartment. Please note we cannot park underground. The guaranteed space needs to be at ground level.

Mostly parking on main roads should be avoided.

Metered Parking is acceptable where the customer is able to provide legal guest permits for the duration of the appointment.

Do you Protect the Home?

FAQs - Using Duks to protect the Walls

Yes we do.

We bring separate indoor shoes.

We protect the walls when needed with Duks (Appropriately named) and the picture shows them being used on the job…

We'll also use drop sheets when needed.

Everything is done to protect your home.

Do I have to be home?

No you don't. We clean homes all the time where the customer has left us access. The only thing we ask for is a reachable contact number and a credit card upfront. On arrival at your home we will do a walk-through of the property to assess the work and make sure that what we discussed at the time of booking still runs true. If it is we will take payment, then start the job and leave a paid invoice on the counter.

If for some reason there is a change in price, that would be discussed and agreed with you prior to taking payment and starting the job.

We take payment upfront in these situations because (believe it or not), we have had people book; tell us to go into their empty house to clean and then we've never heard from them again! Unfortunately, there is the odd bad apple out there! And so we had to change our process.

Will the Price change once you are on the Job?

Our Goal is to ensure that there are no surprises once we arrive at your home to do the work. That is why we have a very comprehensive booking process when you call. Mark will ask you very specific questions so that we can 99% accurately gauge the cost of the job. However, to give you an accurate price we rely on your transparency as to the condition of your Carpets or Furnace and Duct-work.

Whilst we are okay with our technicians up-selling a service to you if you want it, we wholeheartedly discourage any aggressive up-selling tactics. In fact for any customer who is concerned about up-selling, we put a note on the Technician's work order that they are not to up-sell.

Are your Trucks Noisy?

Yes our Trucks can be noisy because of their power and engine size. It is why we try not to start a job before 9 am. However if you would like earlier, we will try to accommodate your request. But we ask that you forewarn your neighbors please.

How long will the cleaning take?

It really depends on the size of your home and the work you want done. An average home takes an hour to and hour and a half. Feel free to check with mark at the time of your booking.

FAQs - Carpet Cleaning

Do you Steam Clean Apartments?

We are delighted to confirm that yes we do Steam Clean Apartments now that we have invested in portable units. We can now do Carpet Cleaning or Upholstery Cleaning in Apartments. Up until December 2018, we declined work in apartments as it was too difficult to reach apartments with the Truckmount Units. As of January 2019, offered our Steam Cleaning Services to residents of High Rise Apartments and Condos that need to be accessible above the ground floor.

Please note that there will be a minimum charge for using Portable Units as it is a little more time consuming to bring the quality of work up to the standard our customers expect with Truckmount units, but you will still find us to be surprisingly competitively priced.

How Long Do Carpets Take to Dry?

We estimate the average drying time to be between 12 and 24 hours, but it does depend on how soiled the carpets are and whether we have to pre-treat them or sanitize. That said, weather is not a significant factor . We come out in all seasons.
In the winter, the heating helps with the drying. And… you can walk on the carpets right away as long as you have clean footwear on.

What type of Carpet Cleaning Equipment do you use?

We use mostly Truckmount Equipment with Prochem and SteamAction Extraction Machines. Wands, Hand tools and Hoses etc.

We have Portable Units for High Rise Condo and Apartment Blocks where it would be impossible to use a Truckmount System.

Do you do Commercial Carpet Cleaning?

Can I request Odour Free Carpet Cleaning?

Yes absolutely, but please specifically request zero odour when booking. The regular products we use are scented so we have to ensure that we bring odour free products for you to the appointment.

Do you re-use the Water?

No we do not re-use water. Our machines have a Fresh Water Tank and a separate Waste Tank. We would never re-use water.

Do you move the furniture?

Ordinarily we clean everything we can see… However should you require full furniture moving we make a charge for that. Please see our Price List on our Contact Page

FAQs - Furnace Cleaning

How long will a Furnace and Duct Cleaning Take?

An average home will take about an hour to an hour and a half. But it does depend on the size of your home and the number of vents and furnaces.

Will my home get dusty during the cleaning process?

No, Dirt and Dust are pushed and pulled through the duct-work into our sealed hoses. High Pressure Air then pushes it out through the hoses into a large container in our Truckmounts.

What is included in a Regular Furnace Cleaning

A Regular Furnace Cleaning includes:

  • Cleaning of the inside of One Furnace. (Blower Fan, Heat Exchangers etc.)
  • Up to 10 Vents
  • All remaining vents need to be cleaned. Please see our Contact Page for the latest charge for extra vents.

What type of Furnace and Duct Cleaning Equipment do you use?

We use extremely high powered Truckmount Equipment : Caddyvac etc with whips and high pressure air.

Do you do Commercial Furnace Cleaning

Sorry, currently we do not do Commercial Furnace Cleaning. Just Residential Furnace Cleaning.

FAQs - Upholstery Cleaning

What Upholstery do you Clean?

We have cleaned the following:

  • Mattresses
  • Arm Chairs
  • Dining Chairs
  • Love Seats
  • Recliners
  • Sofas
  • Sectionals

What Fabrics do you clean?

We mostly clean Synthetic Materials and some Wool.

We only clean some Microfiber – it depend. Some Microfibers don't respond well to steam cleaning. We will likely ask to see pictures.

We don't clean Leather.

Do you do Commercial Upholstery Cleaning

Yes we do Commercial Upholstery Cleaning. Please Call Mark at 403-984-3680 for a Free Quotation.

Do you Clean Memory Foam

We clean Mattresses – Some may contain memory foam and that should be okay. However we do not clean directly on memory foam.
