Introduction.
On the 15th of November 2024, Dang Good Carpet and Furnace Cleaning celebrated eight years as an A Plus BBB Accredited Business in Calgary. An A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau is the highest achievable rating. Subsequently, it doesn’t get any better than that. We are delighted and optimistic that we will attract more customers in and around Calgary now we have an A+ Rating. We are very proud to have accomplished an A+ rating, so we naturally wanted to tell you what BBB Accreditation means and explain their rating system.
What does the BBB (Better Business Bureau) do?
The BBB – Better Business Bureau was started in 1912. It is a private nonprofit entity focused on trust and ethical business practices within the marketplace. For more information, see the BBB Mission and Vision. In addition, the International Association of Better Business Bureaus (IABBB) is the parent company for all BBBs in the US, Canada and Mexico.
What is BBB Accreditation?
The BBB awards accreditation to businesses that have met their strict Standards of Trust. These are:

- Advertising Honestly
- Being Truthful
- Being Transparent
- Fulfilling Promises made
- Being Responsive
- Adhering to Privacy Protection
- Embracing Integrity
Business partners are required to adhere to the BBB Business Partner Code of Conduct.
What is the Benefit of Accreditation?
Why is Accreditation good for Business?
Being accredited with the BBB helps add credibility to your business. Essentially, it is good for your reputation. The BBB provides a seal for your website indicating accreditation, and they are very strict on who can use their seal.
Once approved, your business becomes a listed BBB Accredited Business, and you are assigned a BBB Profile Page, which helps with the visibility of your business.
The BBB also provides Marketing Tools, Pertinent News, Useful Information, and Entry to their Quoting Program.
How to get Accredited?
First, it is best to ensure that you will easily meet the standards for accreditation mentioned above. Are you eligible? Do you have the appropriate License, Insurance and WCB? Once satisfied, there is a BBB application to complete. The Better Business Bureau will then undertake a review.
Is there a Cost to BBB Accreditation?
On approval, there is an initial fee and then an annual fee for BBB Accreditation. At the time of writing, the cost for a business with 13 staff was about $560 CAD.
How to become A Plus BBB Accredited?
To better understand the rating system, look at the BBB Overview of Ratings. Several factors determine ratings:
- Complaint History of the Business
- The Type of Business
- The length of time in business
- Business Transparency Processes
- Meeting BBB Commitments
- Licensing and other formal documentation
- Advertising Practices

The BBB Institute for Marketplace Trust is the educational arm of the BBB. Its mission is to review the trust aspect of businesses for the protection of consumers. They work with various BBBs across North America. They aim to:
